I had 2 choices & 17 things on my to-do-list

This morning I woke up to sadness. My heart felt exquisitely painful.

About 0.12 seconds later my head instantly filled with the 17-things-that-need-to-be-done-like-yesterday.

I had two options:

#1 Let the adrenaline kick in, jump out of bed & start working hard making me/my life perfect.

#2 Take a big breath, rest back & illuminate why my heart was feeling sad.

You know what I did?
I’m actually a little ashamed to say.
Because I should “know better than this.”

I choose option #1.

Like most women do every morning…

Working hard is a drug.
It’s incredibly f*cking addictive.
Because it makes us feel like we are IN CONTROL.

Like we are the SOURCE of all things in our life…. And by being busy & working hard, we are creating the perfect life.

Now I don’t mind working hard. It’s a virtue that represents our commitment, at times.

But when hard work becomes our HABIT & we use it to:

  • Constantly be busy
  • Be our marker of success
  • Distract ourselves from what our heart is truly feeling and
  • Avoid telling ourselves the deeper truth

When working hard becomes our habit, then shit gets messy.

We fall into cycles of:

  1. Believing that what’s on our plate (right now) is the most important thing in the world. Being busy stops us dreaming.
  2. Numbing out our emotions & feelings through hard work. Being busy shuts us down emotionally.
  3. Working hard to fix ourselves, constantly striving for the next breakthrough or healing we believe we so desperately need.
  4. Believing that we have to create everything in our lives.

Being busy stops us resting back into the divine soulful force that wants to move through us, & let us live as pleasure-filled purpose.

If you are a woman who feels:

… exhausted
… confused
… direction-less
… unsure
… like hard work is the path to success
… purpose-less
… unsure how to NOT-be-busy
… emotionally disconnected
… lacking pleasure and sensuality

It’s a sign that perhaps you need to prioritize being
LESS BUSY.

I know it’s hard.

I know you’ve got work/family/life/1 million other things to take care of.

But I also know,

YOU are more important that your to-do-list.

YOU have so much more to contribute to the world than your effectiveness & hard work.

YOU deserve More.

YOU are allowed to ask for it.
